Buford man learned of multiple attempts to use his debit card number after dining at a Mall of Georgia restaurant.

A Buford man believes a restaurant employee may be responsible for multiple attempts to fraudulently use his debit card information. On March 8, the man dined at Ruby Tuesday's at the Mall of Georgia and used a Visa debit card to pay for his meal. The following day, he discovered 12 fraudulent attempts had been made to use his card including four $100 transactions and two $500 transactions. The man told police he believes an employee of Ruby Tuesday's may be responsible for the attempts. The case is listed as active. Want to be notified every time we post a new crime article? Zaxby's is warning customers of a potential security breach that may have resulted in unauthorized access to credit and debit card information. Certain licensed locations have identified suspicious files on their system which "have been identified by credit card processing companies as common points of purchase for some fraudulent activity." The Buford Zaxby's located at 4906 Friendship Road is among the affected locations. According to a statement released by Zaxby's, the restaurant chain has notified the appropriate authorities and will continue to cooperate with the investigation. What should you do if you become a victim of credit card fraud? According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, the Electronic and Financial Crimes Unit (EFCU) experiences a large increase in the number of credit card fraud cases during the holiday season. Due to the fact that stolen credit card information is used across the country and even internationally, police say these cases can be difficult to investigate due to the various jurisdictions involved. Seems to be a reoccurring trend in our area. My debit card numbers were stolen and used this past weekend. The card was still in my possession but someone was able to steal the numbers and use the card to drain my account of nearly $280.
