Zaxby's Warns Customers of Potential Security Breach at Buford Store

Malware found on computers at some locations which could have been used to export customer names and credit and debit card numbers, officials say.

Zaxby's is warning customers of a potential security breach that may have resulted in unauthorized access to credit and debit card information. Certain licensed locations have identified suspicious files on their system which "have been identified by credit card processing companies as common points of purchase for some fraudulent activity." The Buford Zaxby's located at 4906 Friendship Road is among the affected locations. According to a statement released by Zaxby's, the restaurant chain has notified the appropriate authorities and will continue to cooperate with the investigation.  "During the course of its forensic investigation, Zaxby's Franchising, Inc. identified some suspicious files, including malware, on the licensees' computer …

Buford Man Discovers Identity Theft When Credit Card Statement Arrives

Man said fraudulent charges had been made on several of his accounts.

A Buford man discovered he was a victim of identity theft while reviewing the monthly charges for one of his credit cards. According to the Gwinnett County Police report, the man received his Best Buy credit card statement on Dec. 7. When he looked at the charges, he noticed several he had not made. The transactions, totaling $282, had been completed at the Best Buy on Pleasant Hill Road. The man informed police he had also learned of fraudulent charges on his Jared’s credit card. That card, the man said, was used to make purchases totaling $3,100 from the Jared’s Jewelers on Pleasant Hill Road.
