This week, Theragenics, a Buford medical device company, announced its CP Medical subsidiary has launched a new line of products for veterinary uses.
A Buford company has announced the launch of a new line of veterinary products aimed at reducing post-surgical infections in pets. On May 1, Buford-based Theragenics announced its subsidiary, CP Medical, has launched its "PLUS" line of antibacterial sutures. According to a company press release, the sutures include an antibacterial agent that does not change the feel, handling or performance of the suture. “Post-surgical infections of both humans and pets remain a significant concern to healthcare providers. Representatives from Northeast Georgia Health System will be available Thursday evening, May 2, to discuss the new 100-bed hospital facility being built near Buford on Thompson Mill Road. The meeting, which will include a construction update and provide attendees with the opportunity to see new architectural renderings, will begin at 6 p.m. at the Braselton Stover House, located at 5257 Hwy. 53 in Braselton, Ga. The new hospital will include an emergency department, diagnostic services and more. Construction of the facility is underway with a target completion date of spring 2015. Despite being founded during a time when U.S. manufacturing was shrinking, Buford-based Okabashi has proved to be a "success story," according to a recent CNN Money report. The company, started in 1984, employs a U.S. workforce, automation and recycling methods to compete in a global marketplace. "At Okabashi, we've had the vision and the dream of not only making the most comfortable shoes anyone makes, but we've also had the dream of being green and being good for the society and the environment that we live in," Okabashi CEO Bahman Irvani told CNN Money.
