'Skate and Create' Exhibit Opens in Buford

An exhibit on the exciting sport of skateboarding is now open at the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center (GEHC) in Buford.

The exhibit explores skate culture and explains how skateboarding is becoming more environmentally friendly. It opened June 22 and will continue through Aug. 25.

Visitors learn about how skateboards are created, view original skateboard art, and design their own boards.

The exhibit highlights products, such as sunglasses and guitars, that are being made from skateboard waste materials and challenges visitors to take home scraps and make something useful out of them. Their ideas will be displayed on GEHC’s Facebook page and website.

The skateboarding exhibit is included with admission to the GEHC.
