NCAA Reinstates UGA's Kolton Houston

Kolton Houston previously played football at Buford High School. His benched in his freshman year for testing positive for steroids.

After a three-year battle, the NCAA has reinstated University of Georgia's Kolton Houston.

Houston was banned in his freshman year after testing positive for steroids. He and his family have said the steroids were used against his knowledge to speed healing of a shoulder injury while attending Buford High School.

The NCAA's decision on Thursday came on Houston's 22nd birthday, UGA officials said. In his most recent drug test, Houston met the threshold to be reinstated.

"It took me 22 years to get the best birthday present but the NCAA finally gave me my eligibility," Houston tweeted.

On UGA's website, college officials thanked NCAA staff, as well as medical professionals assisted with the case.
