Gwinnett Braves to Host 'Boston Strong' Night

The Gwinnett Braves will show their support for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing with a special night to raise funds for the families affected.

On May 7, the G-Braves will play the Boston Red Sox's minor league team the Pawtucket Red Sox. First pitch is at 6:05 p.m. at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville.

The first pitches will be thrown out by athletes who played in Boston at one time or another. They are:

• Current Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan who honed his skills playing for Boston College. 
• Former Boston Red Sox catcher and two time World Series winner Jason Varitek
• Former New England Patriots' safety and two time Super Bowl winner Rodney Harrison. He is currently a commentator for NBC Sunday Night Football.
• Former Boston Celtics guard Dee Brown. In 1991, Brown won the NBA Slam Dunk contest.

Five dollars from every ticket purchased at gwinnettbraves.com/boston using the promo code "STRONG" will be donated to OneFundBoston.org and benefit the victims of the Boston Marathon tragedy. 

The entire evening will be a tribute to Boston. Each G-Braves player will walk out on the field to a Boston band, including Boston, Aerosmith, the Dropkick Murphys, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones and others. There will also be some items sold at the concession stand to make Coolray Field feel more like Fenway Park.
