Who Will Win Tonight's Debate?

Who do you think will win tonight's debate? The seasoned and experienced, yet gaffe-prone Joe Biden or the young, new-to-the-national stage Paul Ryan?

Claire Suddath of Businessweek believes experience is important.

"The one thing going for the vice president is that he’s done this a lot. He’s run for president a couple times, he’s been in multiple debates, he’s debated Barack Obama. He’s got experience and experience matters," she wrote.

Swing state voters expect Ryan to emerge victorious according to an article in the New York Times.

"Nearly half of likely voters in Colorado and Wisconsin said they expected Mr. Ryan to beat the vice president, and voters in Virginia gave Mr. Ryan a slight edge over Mr. Biden, 41 percent to 36 percent," the article stated.

Below is more detailed information on Thursday night's debate, as well as the schedule for upcoming debates, all of which are presented by the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD):

According to the CPD, "The debate will cover both foreign and domestic topics and be divided into nine time segments of approximately 10 minutes each. The moderator will ask an opening question, after which each candidate will have two minutes to respond. The moderator will use the balance of the time in the segment for a discussion of the question."

According to the CPD, "The second presidential debate will take the form of a town meeting, in which citizens will ask questions of the candidates on foreign and domestic issues. Candidates each will have two minutes to respond, and an additional minute for the moderator to facilitate a discussion. The town meeting participants will be undecided voters selected by the Gallup Organization."
