Woman Drowns Sunday at Lake Lanier

The victim reportedly falls off a dock.

The relatively quiet holiday weekend at Lake Lanier was marred Sunday (July 7) by a drowning, according to media reports.

A woman was on the dock with her husband when she fell into the water, according to a report on Fox 5 news. Neither person could swim, but the husband jumped into the water to rescue her. Both people were pulled from the water.

WSB-TV reported that the drowning occurred in the Forsyth County area of the lake.

Emergency crews tried unsuccessfully to revive the woman. Names were not released.

The stormy weather was disruptive in general to Lake Lanier over the holiday weekend. There were no Boating Under the Influence arrests on the Fourth of July, and fireworks were postponed from Thursday to Saturday.
