Not kids play: A driver acted like he was going to donate to a youth basketball fund-raising effort in a Stone Mountain-area intersection. Instead of giving a couple of bucks to a 13-year-old team member, he snatched the donation bucket and drove away with about $100. The driver was seen throwing the bucket out of the window as he drove down the road.

Taxi offered more than a ride: You can count on this cab driver being out of service for an extended period of time. Dunwoody Police arrested a taxi driver who was allegedly dealing marijuana from his cab. After the police stopped the driver for speeding, they found he had an outstanding warrant against him. They also found pot, plastic baggies, a digital scale and a loaded handgun.

Unseen gunman: A Norcross man told police an armed man with dreadlocks pulled a gun on him while he and his wife were eating at a Waffle House restaurant, then chased him to a nearby gas station. The only problem — nobody else saw it happen. When police asked about going through surveillance footage, the man changed his story and said that the gun was only shown to him. The wife, who seemed surprised by what her husband reported, told police he had taken a few pills of methadone, a drug commonly used to treat addiction to opiates. The man was charged with falsely reporting a crime.

Caught in the act: A man ran from probation officers recently in Athens for a good reason — at least in his mind. After the officers came to the man's residence, they saw him put something in the back of a pickup truck, as well as a small plastic baggy hanging out of his pocket. They found a large sum of money, a syringe and several small baggies containing a white substance, which tested positive for cocaine.

Kids playing with fire: According to the Monroe Fire Department website, juvenile firesetting is the fastest growing fire threat in the U.S., with 80,000 structure fires per year started by kids. Nearly half of the arson arrests are of juveniles, resulting in 760 deaths, 3,500 injuries and $1.2 billion in property damage. Juveniles are suspected in a hay barn fire reported recently to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
