Man Clad Only in Underwear Causes Disturbance at Buford Hotel

Told police he woke up in the woods, set his clothes on fire and walked to the hotel.

A Buford man had more questions than answers for the police officers attempting to determine how he ended up in a hotel lobby nearly naked and bleeding from several scratches and cuts.

Gwinnett County Police were dispatched to the Holiday Inn Express on Satellite Boulevard just before 4 a.m. on Nov. 29 after a frightened clerk called 911 for help. According to the police report, the clerk heard a knock on the locked front door of the hotel at approximately 3:15 a.m. By the time the clerk reached the door, which can only be accessed by key holding guests during the overnight hours, there was no one to be seen. The clerk returned to her office and a few minutes later observed motion on the security camera. The video feed showed a male attempting to climb over the front desk counter.

The clerk went to the lobby and asked the man what he was doing. The man reportedly said he was a hotel guest and had lost his key. When the clerk questioned him further, the man admitted lying and asked if he could take a shower. The clerk told him he could not. According to the police report, the man then asked the clerk to call a taxi for him. The woman instead called police, later saying she was “terrified” during the encounter because she did not know the man’s intent.

When police arrived, they found Jacob Brothers, 22, of Buford, standing in the hotel lobby wearing nothing but his underwear. Brothers reportedly would not provide his name or date of birth and was unable to explain how he got to the Holiday Inn Express.

“While speaking with [Brothers], I observed that he was very pale and his face was flush (sic). Furthermore, I observed that the white male would randomly become irate for no apparent reason,” the officer wrote in the arrest report.

The officer noted that Brothers responded to officers’ questions by yelling statements such as “Where the [expletive deleted] am I?”, “Where the [expletive deleted] is my daughter?” and “You better [expletive deleted] tell me.”

Paramedics assessed Brothers at the scene and determined he did not require any immediate medical care. After the assessment, officers once again tried to determine what had transpired.

“[Brothers] then stated that the only memories he had prior to the incident was being at home in Buford drinking a soda,” the officer wrote in the report.

Brothers explained that he remembered waking up in the woods, getting undressed, setting his clothes on fire and then walking through the woods and a drainage pipe to the hotel.

When asked if he were under the influence of any drugs, Brothers allegedly replied, “At least marijuana.” The officer again tried to obtain further information, but Brothers reportedly became irate, yelling more questions and assuming a fighting stance until warned that he would be tased if he did not calm himself.

Due to his behavior, Brothers was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and loitering and prowling.

While enroute to the jail, Brothers advised the officer he was “going to stab a [expletive deleted]” and requested the officer provide him with the “longest toothbrush” to be used as a shank.

Later that evening, officers recovered Brothers’ shoes and identification hidden near the back entrance of the hotel.

Brothers was released from jail the following day on a $275 bond.

there are now multiple treatments available to solve the 'allergy' problem; one will work - it'sRead More just a matter of finding the right one. it is not necessary to 'dump' a member of the family anymore. after decades of not being able to enjoy a family pet, about ten years ago my mother found the right treatment after trying about six different ones. she and my cats have been the best of friends ever since. it's just a matter of trying a little bit more.

Yes, we have tried multiple treatments for over a year now. Unfortunately, the allergy symptomsRead More along with inflated adenoids are so harsh that they end up causing sinus and ear infections with a extremely high fever. (104.7 has been the highest) My 6 year old is constantly at the doctor, at least once a month if not more. He is now awaiting surgery for his sinuses and inflamed tissue to help in the situation.
