In the event of severe weather, officials advise seeking shelter in the lowest or most central portion of the structure. Avoid exterior walls, doors or glass windows until the storm passes.  Citizens should avoid contact with downed power lines and call 911 to report damage. Officials also suggest charging cell phones ahead of time and having a flashlight, portable AM/FM radio, and extra batteries on hand.
