Duluth-based CARL was selected by Gwinnett County Animal Control to foster and find a home for the kitten, named "Spirit" by volunteers with the group.

"I am very pleased to report that Spirit's story has a very happy ending," Murphy wrote in an email to Buford Patch. "Spirit has found her forever home--and it's a great one!"

Murphy added, "While Spirit has found a home, CARL currently has almost 100 kittens in foster care who still need to find theirs. Most of these kittens were rescued from less-than-desirable circumstances: orphaned when their mothers were killed by cars or construction equipment, born in locked storage rooms or crawlspaces, or covered with ants under a bush. Like Spirit, all of them are receiving vet care and are being fostered by CARL volunteers."

The kittens are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, tested for feline leukemia and FIV, dewormed, treated for fleas as necessary, and microchipped before being made available for adoption. The adoption fee is $120.

CARL holds adoption events each Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Petco, located at 3264 Buford Drive in Buford, and the Petsmart located at 3630 Peachtree Parkway in Suwanee. Animals available for adoption can be viewed on the CARL website.

"With so many kittens in foster care and many more in need of rescue, CARL welcomes donations of money and supplies for the kittens," Murphy wrote.
