One person is reported dead after a car crashed into a pole and became engulfed in flames in Lilburn.

According to Lilburn Police Chief Bruce Hedley, multiple witnesses observed the driver of a small, red-colored SUV traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Lawrenceville Highway around 3:40 p.m. Tuesday (April 23).

The driver crashed into a large metal mast arm pole in front of the Waffle House at the intersection of Highway 29 and Indian Trail Road.

Georgia Man Charged in Illinois State Trooper's Death - Fort Stewart Patch

A Hinesville man has been indicted by a Montgomery County, Ill., grand jury in connection with the November 2012 death of an Illinois state trooper, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Truck driver Johnny B. Felton Jr., 52, has been charged with reckless homicide and operating a tractor trailer in violation of restrictions on his commercial driver's license, according to the Post-Dispatch. He was arrested Tuesday in Hinesville and will be transported to Illinois to face the charges, according to the report.

Prosecutors say that Illinois state trooper Kyle Deatherage, 32, was conducting a traffic stop Nov. 26 when he was struck and killed by a semi truck driven by Felton.

Canton Woman Arrested for Theft From Schools - Canton-Sixes Patch

A Canton woman who was the former treasurer of the Indian Knoll Elementary PTA in Hickory Flat and the Sequoyah High School Girls Soccer Booster Club in Holly Springs has been arrested and charged with two counts of theft, authorities say.

According to the Cherokee Sheriff's Office, Kim Turman, 40, allegedly stole $12,448.61 from the Indian Knoll PTA between 2011 and 2012. Turman is also suspected of stealing $5,882.51 from the booster club in 2012.

Five people across metro Atlanta are wanted on racketeering charges in connection with a sales scheme to defraud more than 30 elderly people out of various amounts of money.

Between March 8 and Dec. 9, 2012, investigators with the Governor's Office of Consumer Protection said the suspects made "cold contact" with elderly victims as part of a sales scheme to promote and conduct exterior home cleaning services and repairs.

Man Walking Home From Work Robbed at Gunpoint - Midtown Patch

Atlanta police are looking for two men who robbed a Midtown resident who was on his way home from work around 9 p.m. April 22.

The man told police two men "pounced" and one of them pulled a gun before demanding his iPhone and cash.
