Buford Restaurant Gets a 'U'

Buford Restaurant Inspections: Review the latest health checks of local eateries.

Boba Mocha recently received a "67/U" rating from the Gwinnett Health Department on June 18.

The restaurant at 3333 Buford Drive, Unit KUL9, was cited for several violations. Among them:

  •  The person in charge failed to demonstrate knowledge of food safety practices in multiple risk factor categories: handwashing, sanitization, shelf life of prepared foods, and employee health policy. Reviewed general food safety knowledge with the person in charge. Every designated person in charge of the food service operation must ensure all applicable measures are taken to prevent the spread of foodborne illness.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
  • Employee dropped the order ticket on the floor while preparing a customers beverage. Employee picked up the ticket from the floor and returned it to the counter. Then employee scooped ice to place into the blender. Employee tossed ice scoop into the ice machine. Then employee pulled a spoon by handling the food-contact surface and stirred the beverage. Employee did not wash hands after picking up the order ticket from the floor. (Must cease activity and wash hands.) Hands must be clean and properly washed after hands become contaminated, i.e. picking up a piece of paper from the floor. Reviewed the requirements on "when to wash hands".  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
  • Foods requiring date marking are not labeled or marked with a date: Creme brulee, cheesecake, tiramisu, and milk tea. Must discard these items. TCS foods (time/temperature controlled foods) prepared then held for more than 24 hours must bear a date which signifies when the food must be sold or discarded. The date of preparation is Day One of the 7 days maximum refrigerated shelf life.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
