Buford Grad Paralyzed in Car Accident Succumbs to Injuries

Tragic news announced this morning.

UPDATED Oct. 5 at 5:25 a.m.

Devin Durden, the Buford High School graduate and standout football player who was seriously injured in a Sept. 26 motorcycle accident, has passed away.

The following message was posted Oct. 4 on the Friends of the Durdens website:

It is with a broken heart that I must communicate to you that Devin Durden passed away this morning at 3:15 am.

Devin fought incredibly hard, but in the end, the injuries he sustained were so numerous and complex that he just could not survive. Coach Durden called to let me know. Coach Durden is doing as well as can be expected.

We do want to thank you for the way you have rallied around this incredible family. The Durdens will need our prayers, love and support now more than ever.

In announcing the sad news, a page administrator for the "Prayers for Devin Durden" page on Facebook asked supporters of the family to "change your prayers to bring comfort and peace to this precious family." 

Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 6 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Flanagan's Funeral Home in Buford. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Buford, according to a post on the "Prayers for Devin Durden" page.
