Fatal Plane Crash Victims Identified – Cumming Patch

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office has identified Don Hershall Hall, 45, and David Jason Schorr, 40, both of Cumming, as the two people killed in Thursday night's plane crash on Lanier Drive. Hall was the pilot of the plane. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

The plane, a 2009 RV-7, is considered to be an experimental plane and was manufactured by Hall, according to Arlene Salac, spokesperson with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

According to multiple 911 calls, the plane went down around 7:45 p.m. Thursday on Lanier Drive near the intersection of Bamby Drive and only yards away from Deer Creek Shores Presbyterian Church.

iPhone Tracker Leads to Robbery Arrests – East Atlanta Patch

An iPhone tracking device helped Atlanta Police apprehend two suspected robbers last week.

On Thursday evening outside the Biltmore Hotel, five women said they were robbed at gunpoint by two men.

The officers at the scene got a detailed description of the items taken and issued a lookout for the robbers. An iPhone that was stolen was equipped with a tracking device, and the tracking device was activated. Georgia State Patrol, Crime Suppression Units and Zone Four units became involved and began tracking the device.  

Within a short period of time, Atlanta Police and Georgia State Patrol units tracked the property to an apartment complex at 1660 Stanton Drive and detained two suspects, who were positively identified by the victims.

FAA: Laser Hits Planes Over Taylorsville – Cartersville Patch

Someone was "painting" aircraft Saturday night in Taylorsville, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

In Bartow County near Cartersville, a call from FAA officials about 9:40 p.m. prompted a deputy to search for suspects in the area of Floyd Creek Church Road, according to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office incident report.

Someone, since about 9 p.m., had been hitting planes in the area with a light "several pilots described as a[n] anti-aircraft, weapon-mounted laser," the report said.

Teen Apologizes for Stealing Flags - Woodstock Patch

The teenager who was arrested for stealing flags last week throughout Towne Lake apologized to the Towne Lake Optimist Club for his actions.

Club President Matt Halloran said the 16-year-old, accompanied by his mother, expressed his feelings to the club during its lunch meeting on Wednesday.

Halloran said the teen told the audience he "was bored that day and that he didn't realize the impact of his actions." He added the teen got "very emotional" as he talked to the members of the club. "It took a lot of courage to get up and say something like that," Halloran added.
