Authorities Release Video of Incident in Which School Board Member Is Accused of Striking Teen With Her Vehicle - Cartersville Patch

Bartow County authorities have released the Walmart security video that shows a Bartow County Schools board member drive her SUV towards a teen who was trying to save a parking spot.

Angela "Angie" Gail Cornett, 41, who serves as District 3 representative and vice chairman, is accused of accelerating her Lexus and hitting the girl's right leg with the front, passenger tire of the vehicle during a dispute about the parking space.

"From watching the video, it's obvious the pedestrian was standing there when the vehicle lurched forward and has to move out of the way very quickly," Sgt. Jonathan Rogers said. "You can't tell close how she was struck or exactly how hard she was struck, but you can see that she was standing there when the vehicle lurched forward and had to move out of the way quickly."

Solicitor Fired After Husband Pleads Guilty to Drug Trafficking - Sandy Springs Patch

On Wednesday, Jeannine Malone was let go from her position as Assistant Solicitor for the Municipal Court for the City of Sandy Springs. She was sworn in on Dec. 3.

“We became aware that she was having personal problems and decided it was in the best interests of the city to withdraw her appointment,” said Bill Riley, an attorney for the City of Sandy Springs.

Malone’s husband Thomas W. Malone, Jr. has been embroiled in a federal drug trafficking case tied to the synthetic marijuana industry. He pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges in the fall.

Carjacker Drives Truck Into Woodland Hills Home - East Atlanta Patch

Atlanta police are looking for a suspected carjacker of a red pick-up truck that struck a Woodland Avenue home in the early morning hours of Jan. 3. The incident occurred at about 7 a.m. on Woodland near Vickers Street.

A responding Atlanta police officer was injured when he fell into a creek, Atlanta Police Department spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones said.
