Police Investigating a Trio of Armed Pedestrian Robberies - Midtown Patch

According to Atlanta Police Officer Kim Jones, at approximately 4:45 a.m., officers responded to a call at 1280 Peachtree Street where a male victim stated that he had been robbed by several black males near the intersection of Peachtree and 12th streets.

The victim reported that one of the suspects stuck a gun to his head and demanded his property. After taking the man’s undisclosed belongings, the suspects left the scene in a burgundy vehicle.

While the officers were assisting the victim, who suffered a minor cut to the head, two more area pedestrian robberies came in through dispatch.

Radio Shack Robbed at Gunpoint - Buckhead Patch

Atlanta Police are investigating a robbery at the Radio Shack on Piedmont Road near Sidney Marcus Boulevard on Wednesday.

According to witness statements given to the police, the suspect entered the Radio Shack at 2625 Piedmont Road with his face covered while an employee was waiting on a customer.

A couple of minutes after the customer left the store, the suspect walked up to the counter, showed a silver handgun and demanded money.

'Harlem Shake' Craze Hits UGA Campus - Dacula Patch

How popular is the "Harlem Shake"? A YouTube search brings up over 21,000 results for the latest video craze, including several videos shot at the University of Georgia.

So what exactly is the "Harlem Shake"? According to UPI.com, the roughly 30-second video productions typically start with just one dancer gyrating to DJ Baauer's 2012 "Harlem Shake" soundtrack. Then, when the bass line kicks in, a whole group of people -- often in costumes and frequently helmets -- join in a dance that can best be described as chaotic.

Injured Officer Facing a Long Recovery - Buford Patch

The wife of School Resource Officer Ronaldo Jimenez issued a statement Thursday afternoon thanking the community for their support and explaining the extent of the injuries Jimenez suffered when he was struck by a vehicle as he was directing traffic in front of Lanier High School.

"First, let us express our appreciation for the thoughts and prayers that have been sent our way following yesterday's accident," Melissa Jimenez wrote in a statement released by Gwinnett County Public Schools. "My husband is currently in serious but stable condition after undergoing surgery to address internal bleeding and to set his jaw which was broken during the accident. He also suffered a broken pelvis and a knee injury. While we know that he has a long recovery ahead of him, we are thankful that he is alive and look forward to the day when he is able to return home and to the work he loves."
