Guns Confiscated at Metro Area High School - East Cobb Patch

Two unloaded guns were confiscated from two students at Wheeler High School without incident on Friday, according to Principal David Chiprany.

In an e-mail message delivered over the weekend to the Wheeler community, Chiprany said a student tip led to school administrators and resource officers taking action, and that the students in possession of the weapons were taken into police custody.

Police Release Details of Friday's Officer-Involved Shooting - Decatur Patch

The Avondale Estates Police Department has released a statement about the chain of events leading to a fatal officer-involved shooting Friday.

According to the police department's release, the suspect ran a red light at Covington Highway and Kensington Road around 5:30 p.m. Friday at a high rate of speed "and with total disregard of other traffic."

An Avondale Estates police officer at the intersection activated his emergency equipment and proceeded down Kensington Road into a residential area trying to find the vehicle.

Man Shot Leaving Capitol Avenue Holiday Inn - East Atlanta Patch

Atlanta police are looking for two men who shot a man in a early morning robbery as the victim and his friend left a party.

The shooting, which occurred at about 3:40 a.m., left the 28-year-old victim hospitalized at Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

 – Cartersville Patch

Bartow County authorities are investigating the death of a 25-year-old man found outside, partially clothed.

Sheriff Clark Millsap said a news release that at 11:02 a.m. on Saturday, deputies and emergency medical personnel responded to 47 Middlebrook Drive in response to a possible death.

They found the deceased man "outside partially clothed," but at this time, investigators don't expect foul play. The cause of death is not known.
