5 Things Buford Residents Need to Know This Week

A quick look at the week ahead.

Here are five things to know for the upcoming week:

1. The Buford City Commission meets Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. at Buford City Hall. Visit the City of Buford website for additional information.

2. Are you the parent of an Awana, Cub Scout or Girl Scout? The Buford Home Depot will host "Derby Day" this Saturday. Get advice on designing and making your pinewood derby vehicle. Click here for more information.

3. Have an unused coat in your closet? Local Kroger stores are collecting gently used coats to donate to the United Way and Atlanta Mission. The Buford Kroger is located at 3300 Hamilton Mill Road. The coat collection drive ends Jan. 19.

4. The Buford Library hosts numerous fun and educational events throughout the year. This week, head to our local branch for doggie tales. Be sure to visit our wonderful Gwinnett County libraries and take advantage of the fantastic programs they offer. Check out the Gwinnett County Public Library calendar for full event listings.

5. Parents of girls ages 4 through 12th grade may be interested in taking a look at the Miss Mountain View Pageant program. The program is the main fundraiser for the Mountain View High School PTSA and focuses on inner beauty, character and confidence. The registration deadline for this year's pageant is Jan. 31.

Be sure to check the Buford Patch event calendar for more events. Have an event you would like added to the calendar? Click here to post it.
