American Humane Association Honors Influential Leader in Animal Welfare

ATLANTA (Oct. 10, 2013) – Gus Arrendale, president of Springer Mountain Farms, received the National Humanitarian Medal at the third annual American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards™ on Oct. 5th in Beverly Hills, California.  It is presented to an individual whose actions reflect the essential values of compassion, caring and hope to children and animals.

"Gus has been a special partner with American Humane Association over the years, and we are honored to bestow upon him the prestigious National Humanitarian Medal at the 2013 Hero Dog Awards," said Dr. Robin Ganzert, American Humane Association president and CEO. Arrendale’s concern for animal welfare stems from a lifetime with the family business, where he has served in many roles over the years. From his childhood of raising Easter chicks on his grandparents’ farm to his current role as president, Arrendale’s dedication to animal welfare has been his life passion.
