Food Stored Uncovered, No Hair Restraints and Other Violations Noted During Recent Health Inspections

The health department is tasked with ensuring restaurant compliance with applicable health and safety regulations. The following restaurant scores are the most recent scores posted on the Gwinnett, Newton, Rockdale Health Departments website as of April 16.

Observations and corrective actions:

• Violation of Code: [.03(4)(a)-(f) ] Managers not aware of 5 symptoms, 5 illnesses and reporting responsibilities of employee health policy. Advised managers and provided with a copy of policy.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
• Violation of Code: [.06(2)(o) ] Observed employee filling up container with water in handsink in food prep area. Observed handsink being used for storage in bar area. Handsinks may only be used for handwashing. Employee was advised and items were cleared from handsink in bar.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
• Violation of Code: [.04(4)(m) ] Observed sanitizer bucket stored on floor. Chlorine in two sanitizer buckets at 0ppm. Sanitizer buckets must stored off the floor and chlorine sanitizer must be maintained at 50-100ppm. Sanitizer bucket was moved off the floor and bleach was placed in both buckets.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
• Violation of Code: [.04(4)(g) ] Observed pieces of cooked ground beef in vegetable sink. Vegetable sink may only be used for washing and preparing fruits and vegetables. Sink was sanitized and employees were advised.  Repeat Violation.
• Violation of Code: [.07(5)(n) ] Observed boxes and old equipment in dry storage area creating harborage conditions. Facility must be maintained and free of unnecessary items. Please clean out dry storage area.  New Violation.
• Violation of Code: [.07(4)(b) ] Observed employee coats stored on food and personal foods stored with food for facility. Personal items must be stored in a manner to prevent contamination.  New Violation.
• Remarks: Raw shrimp is used in ceviche. Consumer advisory, reminder, and disclosure indicated on menu. No parasite destruction letter needed unless using fish. Advised person in charge.

• Violation of Code: [.04(4)(c)1(iv) ] Observed ready to eat food in walk-in cooler and dry good shelves stored uncovered. person in charge covered items. Advised PIC all RTE food in storage must be covered for protection.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
• Violation of Code: [.03(5)(i) ] Observed employee preparing food with out a hair restraint and having hair longer than 1/2inch. PIC found a hat for employee. Advised PIC anyone preparing food and has hair longer than 1/2inch must have a hair restraint.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
