Restaurant Improves Score From 65 to 99 Upon Reinspection

A look at the most recent Buford restaurant inspections.

The health department is tasked with ensuring restaurant compliance with applicable health and safety regulations. The following restaurant scores are the most recent scores posted on the Gwinnett, Newton, Rockdale Health Departments website as of April 2.

Observations and corrective actions:

  • Violation of Code: [.03(2)(a)-(n) ] Failure of CFSM/Person-in-charge to monitor and supervise employees of following food safety regulations. Person-in-charge must monitor facility and ensure food regulations are being followed.  New Violation.
  • Violation of Code: [.03(5)(j)1&2 ] Employees drinking from water bottles (screw on tops) in kitchen area. Water bottles discarded. Employee drinks shall be in disposable cups with lids and straws and stored so to not contaminate food, food prep surfaces and/or single-service articles.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
  • Violation of Code: [.06(2)(o) ] Empty wing sauce containers stored in handsink near mop sink and wok stored in handsink near grill/wok station. Equipment removed from sinks. Nothing shall be stored in handwashing sinks. Handsinks shall be accessible at all times for handwashing only.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
  • Violation of Code: [.04(4)(c)1(i)-(iii),(v),(viii) ] Raw chicken stored above raw beef and raw chicken in walk-in freezer. Container of raw chicken stored on top of container of raw hamburgers. Foods reorganized for proper separation and storage to prevent cross-contamination.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
  • Violation of Code: [.04(6)(d) ] Cooked potentially hazardous foods not cooled from 135oF to 41oF within a total of 6 hours. See temperatures marked '***'. Food discarded. Cooked potentially hazardous foods must be cooled from 135F to 70F within two (2) hours and 135F to 41F within a total of six (6) hours.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
  • Violation of Code: [.07(6)(q) ] First-aid supplies stored on shelf above corn meal and other food products. Supplies placed in office. First-aid supplies shall be stored tp prevent contamination of food and food equipment.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
  • Violation of Code: [.07(6)(o) ] Tylenol and Advil stored on shelf above food and food prep surfaces. Medicines placed in office. Medicines shall be stored to prevent contamination of food and food equipment.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
  • Violation of Code: [.04(6)(e) ] Rice being cooled in deep plastic containers with tight-fitting lid in walk-in cooler. Discussed possible alternative cooling methods with Certified Food Manager (CFSM). Proper cooling methods shall be used when cooling cooked potentially hazardous foods.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
  • Violation of Code: [.10(2)(g) ] Inspection report not posted in public view within 15 feet of the primary entrance, 5-7 feet above the floor, and/or not readable from one foot. Inspection report posted behind counter on wall behind door. Inspection report must be posted 15 feet from main entrance, 5-7 feet off the floor and readable within 1 foot.  Repeat Violation.
  • Remarks: Notes--Followup inspection will occur within 10 days. Required Additional inspection will occur within 60 days.

  • Violation of Code: [.04(4)(c)1(i)-(iii),(v),(viii) ] Raw beef stored over raw shelled eggs in reachin cooler. Raw hamburgers stored over pickles and onions in small cooler. Raw beef stored over raw bacon in walkin cooler. Raw beef stored over raw pork chops in walkin freezer. Foods reorganized for proper storage. Raw animal foods and ready-to-eat foods shall be properly stored and separated to protect from cross-contamination.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
  • Violation of Code: [.05(7)(b) ] Tabletops being cleaned with single sanitizer wiping cloth. Tables recleaned. Tabletops shall be cleaned one of two ways: 1) two separate sanitizer towels from separate sanitizer solution buckets or 2) spray tabletop with sanitizer solution from spray bottle and wip with disposable towel.  Corrected On-Site.  Repeat Violation.
  • Violation of Code: [.05(7)(b) ] Soda nozzles and skillets contain food or mold-like substance buildup. Skillets being cleaned every seven (7) hours. Equipment cleaned. Increase cleaning frequency of food-contact surface equipment. Soda nozzles shall be cleaned every 24 hours and skillets and other food contact surfaces shall be cleaned at least every 4 hours.  Corrected On-Site.  Repeat Violation.
  • Remarks: Notes-Previous CFSM (certified food safety manager) no longer employed. Facility has 90 days from date of previous CFSM being replaced to have new CFSM.
