Men's Wearhouse Board of Directors Ousts Founder George Zimmer

Men's Wearhouse gave no reason for Zimmer's termination. There are more than 1,000 stores in North America, including one in Buford, Ga.

"You're going to like the way you look. I guarantee it."

After today, George Zimmer -- the man who made those lines famous -- might not be so sure about that. On Wednesday, the Men's Wearhouse executive chairman was booted from the very company he started in 1973.

Over the past 40 years, Zimmer has helped grow the company into one the largest specialty retailers of men's apparel. There are more than 1,000 stores nationwide, including one at the Mall of Georgia in Buford.

Still, there were no kind words for Zimmer as he exited. In a press release, the company gave no reason for his termination.Β

"The board expects to discuss with Mr. Zimmer the extent, if any, and terms of his ongoing relationship with the company," the press release stated.

Company officials also said that an annual shareholders meeting has been put on hold "to re-nominate the existing slate of directors without Mr. Zimmer."
