'American Made Movie' Tour Stopping in Buford July 5

American Made Movie tour bus will stop in Buford to visit Okabashi factory.

Created by two Dacula High School graduates, "American Made Movie" makes its first stop in Gwinnett County on July 5.

A documentary by two Dacula High School alumni is launching its bus tour on July 5 in Gwinnett County.

The movie, entitled American Made Movie, examines the decline of America's manufacturing industry. It is directed and produced Nathaniel McGill and Vincent Vittorio, who graduated from Gwinnett County Public Schools in 1999.

Over the next month, the film and its crew will visit a total of 32 places leading up to the national release on Aug. 31. Gwinnett County is the first stop.

During the Gwinnett County tour, there will be stops in Suwanee, Buford and Lawrenceville, culminating in a special screening at Coolray Field. 

In addition to visiting the area on July 5, the film may also be presented to students within GCPS curriculum.

Supt. J. Alvin Wilbanks was quoted in the Gwinnett Business Journal as saying the movie "has much value as a supplement to our curriculum."

The journal also stated that Wilbanks said the topic of the movie would be good in history, government, economics and technology education courses.

Here's the Gwinnett County schedule:

8 a.m. -- The tour bus will parked in the Suwanee town square, 330 Town Center Avenue, Suwanee (public invited)

11 a.m. -- The tour bus continues through Gwinnett County for a bit of a history tour with Elliot Brack as the guide.

2 p.m. -- Tour of Okabashi Factory, 4823 Roy Carlson Blvd, Buford

5:30 - 7 p.m. -- VIP’s, sponsors, vendors and guests will join for festivities at the Gwinnett Braves parking lot. Public is invited. 

Following G-Braves game -- Movie screening takes place at Coolray Field after the game, which is expected to begin at 7:05 p.m. Tickets for the film may be purchased via the box office at 678-277-0340.
