World Comes to Buford for Adam Sandler Movie

They know about Adam Sandler in Guatemala.

"Muchos," Guatemala resident Dani Campo said Monday (July 22) in Buford when he was asked how many Sandler movies he has seen.

Seems Campo and friend Andy Gonque of Guatemala were visiting Amy Podgurski in Monroe when they started searching the Internet for things to do. And that led them to East Main Street on Monday, where they checked out preparations for Tuesday's filming sessions. And they plan to return Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Sandler will be filming a scene for "Blended," which co-stars Drew Barrymore, inside Johnson's Hometown Pharmacy. Film crews Monday were constructing props outside and inside the store.

Laurie Attaway, the owner of Aqua Terra Bistro on East Main Street, also is glad to see the filming in town. She said she's gotten lots of business from film personnel dropping in for meals, as they did Monday.

Word at the scene Monday is that filming would take place early in the morning Tuesday, though exact hours are not known. But the workers emphasized that Sandler enjoys contact with fans when possible during filming breaks.
