Burglars Snatch Over $2,300 Worth of Cigarettes
Police searching for two suspects in connection with Oct. 10 burglary of Buford, Ga. pharmacy.
Two suspects pried open the door of a Buford business and escaped with more than two thousand dollars worth of cigarettes during an Oct. 10 burglary at the Rite Aid on Nelson Brogdon Boulevard.
A Gwinnett County Police officer was dispatched to the business at approximately 4 a.m. on Oct. 10 in response to a burglar alarm. Upon arrival, the officer discovered the front door was partially open and the frame had been pried back. In the process of checking the building, the officer discovered several cigarette packs appeared to be missing from behind the counter.
An employee of the business arrived at the scene shortly thereafter and played the store surveillance footage for the officer. According to the report, a man wearing a brown or green winter coat, black ski cap, orange gloves, dark pants and a white bandana over his face used a pry bar to open the door. He and the second suspect, who was carrying a large green or black tote box, entered the store and quickly went behind the front counter. The two suspects kneeled down and started pushing all the Newport and Marlboro cigarettes into the tote box. Once the tote box was filled, the two suspects left the store. The officer was unable to determine height or race for either of the suspects.
The suspects escaped with 30 cartons of Marlboro cigarettes valued at $1,500 and 150 packages of Newports valued at $885.
The case is listed as active.

I had the same thought. Maybe there is a huge Newport black market of which we are unaware. Go figure.
