Former Mayor Surrenders, Released on $10,000 Cash Bond – Douglasville Patch
Former Douglasville Mayor Mickey Thompson turned himself into the Douglas County Jail on Sept. 24 and was released less than two hours later on a $10,000 cash bond, according to Sheriff Phil Miller.
Miller described the booking as uneventful.
Claud Mitchell Thompson (a.k.a Mickey Thompson) was indicted on 91 counts of theft last week. He was among 78 people indicted, according to Douglas County District Attorney David McDade's website.

Ex-NorthStar Church Volunteer Sentenced to Life in Prison – Kennesaw Patch
Former NorthStar Church volunteer Cesar Pastrana will spend the rest of his life in prison after he pleaded guilty Friday to 10 counts of child molestation, four counts of aggravated child molestation and one count of aggravated sodomy.
The 25-year-old Kennesaw man admitted in a Cobb County courtroom that he molested nine boys, including two relatives.
Metro Atlanta Home Prices on the Rise – Duluth Patch
After several years of downward trends in home values, a leading real estate index reports that home prices are beginning a slow climb back in the plus column.
The Standard & Poor's/Case-Shiller latest report, which looks at home prices in the country's 20 largest cities, finds that home values have increased 1.6 percent. And in the Atlanta metro area the news is even better, the report shows a 2.6 percent increase.
